Citrus aurantium - Seville Orange, Sour Orange - Shrub - The source of Bergamot Oil. Edible only if cooked with much sugar to make a marmalade. If acclimated, hardy to 15° F.

Citrus X Changsha - Citrus reticulata X Citrus ichangensis - Shrub - Though quite cold-hardy, the fruit has less flavor than supermarket tangerines and many seeds. If acclimated, hardy to 15° F or lower.

Citrus X 'Clem-Yuz 3-3' - 'Ten-Degree Tangerine' - Citrus x Yuzu X Clementine Mandarin - Shrub - Surprisingly, the ripe fruits are relatively sweet. More and more gardeners in south central and south east Texas are enjoying home-grown Christmas tangerines (or pre-Thanksgiving "limes"). If acclimated, hardy to 10° F.

Citrus hystrix - Kaffir Lime - Very Tender Shrub - Should be grown in containers and brought indoors below 34° F. 

Citrus ichangensis - Ichang Papeda - Small Tree - Not edible, best grown as an ornamental. If acclimated, hardy to 0° F. Has been used to create many cold-hardy hybrids.

Citrus X 'Ichang Lemon' - C. ichangensis X C. maxima -  Small Tree - Citrus maxima, the pommelo, gives this very cold-hardy hybrid its large fruit, almost as big as a grapefruit. The trees are tall and quite showy when loaded with many yellow, bumpy fruits in late fall. It is called 'Ichang Lemon' because the fruits are marginal lemon substitutes. However, fruits allowed to ripen even longer, and exposed to some freezes, acquire a hint of grapefruit flavor. If acclimated, hardy to 10° F.

Citrus X Lemonquat - Citrus x 'Meyer' X Fortunella margarita 'Nagami' - Shrub - If acclimated, hardy to 10° F.

Citrus maxima - Pommelo, Pummelo, Shaddock - Tender Shrub - Should be grown in containers and brought indoors below 32° F. 

Citrus medica - Citron - Tender Shrub - The source of the candied peel found in the infamous fruit cake.  Should be grown in containers and brought indoors below 34° F. 

Citrus medica var. sarcodactylis - Buddha's Hand - Tender Shrub - This most curious fruit is used in China medicinally. Should be grown in containers and brought indoors below 34° F. 

Citrus X 'Meyer' - Citrus limon X Citrus sinensis - Meyer Lemon - Tender Shrub - The cold-hardiest lemon.  If acclimated, hardy to 25° F.

Citrus X paradisi - Citrus maxima X Citrus sinensis - Grapefruit - Shrub - 'Oro Blanco', 'Rio Star', 'Star Ruby'.  If acclimated, hardy to 20° F. and seedling grapefruits will resprout after a severe freeze.

Citrus reticulata - Mandarin, Tangerine - Shrub - In general, mandarins are yellow or pale orange at maturity and tangerines have a deep orange color. If acclimated, hardy to 20° F.

Citrus reticulata 'Shekwasha' - Taiwan Tangerine - Shrub - A small, flattened "tangerine".  If acclimated, hardy to 15° F.

Citrus reticulata var. austera - Sour Mandarin, Sun Kat, Sunki -  Shrub - Grown as an ornamental or for hybridizing - not for its flavor. If acclimated, hardy to 15° F.

Citrus X Shangyuan - Citrus ichangensis X Citrus reticulata (unshiu) - This Ichandarin has large, acidic fruits.  If acclimated, hardy to 15° F.

Citrus sinensis - Sweet Orange - Tender Shrub - Should be grown in containers and brought indoors below 32° F. 

Citrus X Sudachi - Citrus ichangensis X Citrus maxima - Shrub - If acclimated, hardy to 15° F.

Citrus tachibana - Tachibana Orange - Tender Shrub - Should be grown in containers and brought indoors below 25° F. 

Citrus taiwanica - Nansho Daidai - Large Shrub -  Very thorny, very cold-hardy and bears very acidic "lemons". If acclimated, hardy to 10° F.

Citrus unshiu - A form of Citrus reticulata

Citrus X Yuzuquat - Citrus x yuzu X Fortunella margarita 'Nagami' -  Shrub - My children eat the very acidic fruits (including the peel) and leave none for us! If acclimated, hardy to 10° F.

Citrus X Yuzu - Citrus ichangensis X C. reticulata -  Shrub - Thought to be a natural hybrid; it's also known as the Japanese Mountain Lemon. Like its Mandarin parent, it is easy-to-peel (the peel is used in Japanese cooking). It is very cold-hardy. If acclimated, hardy to 5° F.

Eremocitrus glauca - Australian Desert Lime - Tender Shrub - Should be grown in containers and brought indoors below 32° F. 

Eremocitrus glauca X  Citrus limon 'Meyer' - Australian Razzlequat - Tender Shrub - Should be grown in containers and brought indoors below 25° F. 

Esenbeckia berlandieri - Jopoy - Shrub - Form from Cameron County described as, E. runyonii - A beautiful large shrub with glossy, 3-leaflet leaves; evergreen, except after very cold temperatures. If acclimated, hardy to 14° F. but will resprout after severe cold.

Fortunella hindsii - Golden Bean Kumquat - Tender Shrub - Should be grown in containers and brought indoors below 34° F. 

Fortunella japonica - Marumi Kumquat, Round Kumquat - Shrub - If acclimated, hardy to 20° F.

Fortunella margarita 'Meiwa' - Meiwa Kumquat, Oval Kumquat - Shrub - The sweet form of the Oval Kumquat. If acclimated, hardy to 20° F.

Fortunella margarita 'Nagami' - Nagami Kumquat, Oval Kumquat - Shrub - The sour form of the Oval Kumquat. If acclimated, hardy to 20° F.

Fortunella X 'Nameiwa' - 'Ten-Degree Kumquat' - F. margarita 'Nagami' X F. margarita 'Meiwa' - Shrub - An extremely cold-hardy hybrid produced in south east Texas. The dark, glossy leaves with an undulating margin are an attractive background for the small orange Kumquats. If acclimated, hardy to 10° F.

Fortunella obovata - Longevity Kumquat, Chang Shou Kumquat - Shrub - If acclimated, hardy to 20° F.

Fortunella polyandra - Malayan Kumquat - Tender Shrub - Should be grown in containers and brought indoors below 34° F. 

Fortunella swinglei - Swingle's Kumquat - Tender Shrub - Should be grown in containers and brought indoors below 34° F.

X Limequat 'Eustis' - 'Eustis' Limequat - Citrus aurantifolia X Fortunella sp. - Shrub - If acclimated, hardy to 20° F.

Microcitrus australiasica - Australian Wild Lime - Tender Shrub - Should be grown in containers and brought indoors below 30° F. 

Poncirus trifoliata - Trifoliate Orange - Large Shrub - The fruit is totally inedible but the plant is extremely cold-hardy.  Hardy to 0° F.

Poncirus trifoliata 'Flying Dragon' - 'Flying Dragon' Trifoliate Orange - Large Shrub -  A monstrose selection with contorted stems and twisted thorns. It is truly grotesque, yet makes a beautiful specimen. 'Cloud Dragon' is similar.

Ptelea trifoliata - Hop Tree, Wafer Ash - Shrub - 

Ruta graveolens - Rue - Perennial Herb - A medicinal herb from southern Europe. 

Severinia buxifolia - Chinese Box Orange - Shrub - There are at least two forms in cultivation. We grow a standard clone and a dwarf clone.
