This Texas native wildflower
has been domesticated! But you do not need a piece of prairie to enjoy
it. Bears magenta-red, or rarely white, flowers from late spring to early
summer. Requires at least 4 hours of sun and grows to 3' high. Plant
it with Cherry Sage (Salvia greggii and hybrids), Pink Skullcap
(Scutellaria), Native Cone Flower (Echinacea pallida), Texas
Bluebonnet and Lantana 'Irene'. Grows in full sun to half-day sun. Looks
best if given a deep watering every two weeks during a dry summer. |
