A spctacular perennial for afternoon
 shade sites.  This variety is available
 in both red and pink forms.
Though it freezes back most winters, 
it can grow to 8' high and 6' wide.

This Texas native wildflower has been domesticated! But you do not need a piece of prairie to enjoy it. Bears magenta-red, or rarely white, flowers from late spring to early summer.  Requires at least 4 hours of sun and grows to 3' high. Plant it with Cherry Sage (Salvia greggii and hybrids), Pink Skullcap (Scutellaria), Native Cone Flower (Echinacea pallida), Texas Bluebonnet and Lantana 'Irene'. Grows in full sun to half-day sun. Looks best if given a deep watering every two weeks during a dry summer.

Bears huge, red flowers over a long season, on stems which can exceed 8-feet-high. Must be grown in sites receiving at least 6 hours of sun.

Hibiscus moscheutos - Mallow Hibiscus - Perennial - Produces 8" to 10" diameter red, pink or white flowers on 4' to 6' stems all summer.  Needs full sun and moist soil.

Hibiscus mutabilis - Confederate Rose - Perennial - Mutable because the flowers change color as they age. Available in single, semi-double and double-flowered forms. These 8' to 10' specimens do best with afternoon shade.

Hibiscus palustris 'Blue River II' - 'Blue River II' Hibiscus - Perennial - Bears huge white flowers on 6' to 8' stems all summer. Needs full sun and moist soil.
